As a Software Engineer, you'll own critical features that make Nejo the only job platform candidates want to use - from our intelligent search (that goes waaay beyond the status quo) to AI-assisted interactions and many other features that users have already requested along the entire lifecycle of job search. When in doubt, we ship it out and iterate based on real feedback. Fast beats perfect, though we recognize when quality needs to take priority. We use AI intelligently - not just in our product but in our workflows. Requirements Why You Should (or Shouldn't) Apply Apply If: You're excited about creating search and recommendation systems that deliver significant value to every person searching for a new job You understand and appreciate the upside of owning company equity You have a proven track record of professionally developing and delivering software You're very comfortable with React webapps, TypeScript, and Python, with a willingness to dive as deep as necessary. Experience with Next.js is a plus. Experience with vector databases and recommendation algorithms is a plus You make decisions based on data and clear hypotheses, not gut feelings You have strong opinions, weakly held, and seek to back opinions with evidence You're comfortable with LLMs, AI-assisted coding and understand efficient prompting You take ownership and don't need someone telling you what to do next You believe in shipping quickly, getting feedback, and iterating You think daily standups are a gigantic waste of time You’re fluent in either German or English Don't Apply If: You need detailed specifications before starting work You prefer fully specified Jira tickets and a product roadmap locked in weeks ahead You optimize for personal comfort over team success You want a fully remote position (we're based in Vienna) You prefer well-established processes over adaptability and speed You're hesitant to share your opinions or provide feedback Benefits Our Work Environment We work from our Vienna office not because we have to, but because we enjoy collaborating in person.
