Stellenbeschreibung: Intro We’re building a greenfield IoT platform to power a large fleet of connected parcel lockers - combining edge computing, cloud services, and real-world hardware. As a Senior IoT Systems Engineer - Edge & IoT , you’ll be at the core of this effort, designing and implementing the edge software that makes our devices reliable, secure, and scalable. This role is perfect for engineers who thrive at the intersection of embedded Linux, containerized workloads, and IoT communication protocols . You’ll help shape the architecture from the ground up, influence key technical decisions, and see your work deployed across a distributed device fleet. Tasks Architect and implement edge computing services that connect and manage a large fleet of smart parcel lockers Build reliable communication pipelines using MQTT (or similar IoT protocols) to ensure seamless data flow between devices and the cloud Develop and deploy production-grade Golang services packaged with Docker for consistent, scalable distribution Collaborate with cloud engineers to design APIs, device management workflows, and monitoring solutions Optimize connectivity, resilience, and security across a distributed network of devices Define patterns and best practices for deploying and operating IoT applications at scale Play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture of a greenfield system, from edge device software through cloud integration Requirements 7+ years of experience building distributed or IoT systems in production environments Strong background in Linux systems and Yocto-based builds Proficiency in Golang with a proven track record of delivering robust services Skilled in MQTT or equivalent IoT messaging protocols Experience with Docker and containerized deployment pipelines Bonus Points Experience with C or C++ for high-performance modules Familiarity with cellular connectivity and optimizing communication in low-bandwidth environments Exposure to balenaOS, balenaCloud, or similar IoT device management platforms Closing This is a rare greenfield IoT opportunity : you’ll build the edge-to-cloud stack that powers a new generation of parcel lockers. Your work will directly shape how devices communicate, scale, and are managed in production. You’ll operate at the intersection of cloud, distributed systems, and IoT - with the autonomy to influence architecture and technology choices from day one.
