We are expanding our public-sector consulting capability in partnership with MACH, and are looking for an experienced consultant to support modernization projects in public-sector finance. This would be an opportunity to build completely new capability and area of expertise at Nortal. Activities Analyze and optimize financial processes within public-sector organizations. Configure and implement MACH ERP financial modules based on client requirements. Lead and support work packages throughout the full project lifecycle (requirements → configuration → testing → go-live). Prepare and conduct workshops, user trainings, and documentation for end users. Support data migration activities and validate financial data structures. Collaborate closely with MACH specialists and Nortal project teams to ensure successful delivery. Act as a functional point of contact for clients and maintain strong stakeholder communication. Provide post–go-live support and ensure smooth system adoption. Requirements Technical & Financial Expertise Solid understanding of financial processes such as: Accounting (double-entry or cameralistics) Financial statements & balance sheets Budgeting , taxation , cost accounting (KLR) Fiscal year-end and reporting processes Experience with ERP or financial management systems , e.g.: SAP FI/CO Microsoft Dynamics Oracle Financials Other ERP systems (Functional experience is sufficient) ERP & Consulting Skills Ability to analyze, document, and optimize financial processes. Experience in configuration or functional setup of ERP modules. Ability to manage work packages end-to-end (requirements → go-live). Comfortable conducting workshops , training sessions , and supporting users. Experience with testing , UAT , and data validation is an advantage. Project experience in a consulting or IT-driven environment. Soft Skills & Personality Independent, structured, and proactive working style. Strong service orientation and excellent communication skills. "Stress-smartness” → ability to stay composed and solution-focused under pressure. Team player with a willingness to collaborate and learn. Excellent German (C1/C2) — required for client-facing work in the public sector. Good English for internal communication. Willingness to travel within Germany for client workshops when needed. Open to participating in the 6-week MACH training program in Lübeck (full-time, onsite). Bonus / Nice-to-have Experience working with public sector finance or public administration workflows. Familiarity with digitalization projects (e-invoicing, workflow improvement, process automation). Understanding of German public sector accounting standards (Doppik, Kameralistik). Team This is a new capability in the making at Nortal Germany. Fabian would be capability lead fo a small team of 4 in the beginning. 2 ERP consultants and 2 Finance Municipal consultants.
